We are excited to announce the release of Memberlite 5.0, the latest version of our popular WordPress membership site theme. Packed with new features, enhancements, and bug fixes, Memberlite 5.0 is designed to take your membership site to the next level.

Memberlite Version 5.0 Now a Hybrid WordPress Theme for Membership Sites

Let’s dive into the highlights of this release:

  1. Hybrid Theme Features for WordPress Block Editor: To ensure seamless compatibility with the WordPress Block Editor, Memberlite 5.0 introduces hybrid theme features. This means you can harness the power of the Block Editor while maintaining the familiar functionality of Memberlite.
  2. Improved Default Color Scheme: We’ve revamped the default color scheme to enhance the visual appeal of your site. If you prefer the previous color palette, fear not! Existing sites can choose the Legacy Default scheme.
  3. Customizable Masthead and Footer Colors: Now you have full control over the appearance of your site’s masthead and footer. Memberlite 5.0 introduces the ability to customize background colors and text colors for these crucial sections using the Customizer.
  4. Clear Indication of Navigation Menu Children: Enhancing the user experience, we’ve added a caret icon to the primary navigation menu, making it easier for users to identify when a menu item has children or submenus.
  5. General Style Updates: Memberlite 5.0 brings a fresh look and feel to the theme with general updates to styles throughout. We’ve refined the aesthetics to ensure a modern and visually pleasing experience for your site visitors.
  6. Expanded Font Options: We understand the importance of typography, which is why we’ve added additional Google Fonts to Memberlite 5.0. You now have access to DM Sans, Figtree, Poppins, and Inter, providing even more flexibility in choosing the perfect font for your site.
  7. Customizing the Editor Color Palette: For developers and designers, we’ve introduced the memberlite_editor_color_palette filter. With this feature, you can easily adjust the color palette of the editor to match your site’s branding and style.
  8. Font Awesome Version 6.4: We’ve upgraded the Font Awesome integration in Memberlite to version 6.4. This update brings new icons and improved performance, ensuring your site stays up-to-date with the latest icon library.
  9. Performance Optimization: To enhance performance, we’ve made optimizations under the hood. By reducing calls made to get_option() from pmpro_getOption(), we’ve streamlined the code and improved efficiency.
  10. Enhanced Layout and Grid: Memberlite 5.0 embraces modern standards by enlarging the overall maximum site width and grid spacing. The content width has also been updated to accommodate the new larger grid, providing a more spacious and contemporary design.
  11. Bug Fixes and Accessibility Improvements: We’ve diligently addressed various bugs and made several accessibility improvements in this release. Highlights include fixes to the “Log Out” link in the PMPro Login Widget, improved heading structure for loop items versus single posts, and better screen reader text for page navigation.
  12. Compatibility and Compatibility: To ensure compatibility with popular plugins, we’ve made adjustments for Jetpack and resolved issues related to PHP 8 deprecated notices. We’ve also fixed a bug affecting the columns layout on search results when the blog grid display is enabled.

About the Theme

Memberlite Words is a lightweight child theme. Designed to be minimalistic and unobtrusive. Letting your content be the hero of this story. Perfect for writers, bloggers, and content creators. Memberlite Words makes it easy to tell the world your story.

Use Memberlite Words as a platform to share your thoughts and ideas. We have also integrated Memberlite Words to work with Paid Memberships Pro, the popular WordPress Membership plugin. This integration opens up a lot of possibilities for you, the creator. Build a “Go Fund Me” style website, restrict content your content behind a paywall, or build a community around your personal brand.

Created for the creator, Memberlite Words gives you the power to publish content beautifully.

Who is Memberlite Words for?

Time and time again, we came across members who wanted to build a simple membership site around their own personal brand, talent, or artistry. Memberlite Words was designed as a single author blogging theme. For the person who wants to stand out from the crowd. The artist, the creator, and the individual.

Much like other crowdfunding solutions (like Patreon), Memberlite Words allows you to create content and restrict some and all of it and showcase it to your fans.

Since this is a WordPress theme, you have full control over how your solo membership site looks and feels. Plus, you own everything on your site which is a nice change from these more restrictive software as a service platforms.

Build your Community

Memberlite Words can seamlessly integrate with Paid Memberships Pro. This opens up a world of possibilities for you to create a community, get paid for your content, and build a Go Fund me styled website.

Create a membership around your content. You are able to accept free membership signups or request a payment for access to some or all of your content.

Build an audience around your content. Use Paid Memberships Pro to require members to signup for content. This will allow you to build a list of members and enable you to further communicate with your audience.

Have you ever wanted to build a “Go Fund Me” or “Sponsor Me” styled website? With Memberlite Words and Paid Memberships Pro – you can!

Changing your Profile Image

When you this theme, you are the hero of this story. It is all about you, your content, and your thoughts. Because of this, we decided to add a nice rounded avatar place holder right at the top of the home page.

This image will be added to the site using your Gravatar profile image which is linked to your account. If you would like to manually change this, you can too! Simply login to your site and change the “logo” found under the Site Identity section of your WordPress customizer.

Improving the Membership Account Experience

In this update, we took at look at how sites are using Memberlite alongside Paid Memberships Pro. We added additional support for certain field types, adjusted the handling of the frontend Member Profile Editing experience, and also made a change for the Membership Account area.

The Memberlite theme will no longer automatically show all child pages of the “Membership Account” page in the sidebar on the main Membership Account page or any of its child pages. You should build your own custom “Membership Account” sidebar menu in place this generated menu. You can add this menu to a widget area for all the pages of the account area using the Custom Sidebars features in the Memberlite Elements plugin.

Preparing for Child Themes

In a the coming weeks we will be releasing the first child theme: Words. Memberlite Words is a lightweight child theme, designed to be minimalistic and unobtrusive. The theme lets your content be the hero of the story. We see it as a perfect fit for writers, bloggers, and content creators.
